Give Thanks

2010_1122coloredpencils0001

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to think about the things that have happened over the year.  More importantly, it is a wonderful time to evaluate the quality of your life and the people around you.  This year I may not have gotten out and painted as much as I would have liked, but I have discovered  new medium for me that I am enjoying immensely(colored pencils), discovered that I can play piano and was given a keyboard last Xmas by my sweetie and an antique GRAND piano by a dear friend.  I am now a grandmother to three wonderful children—by welcoming in my little angel, Keyonna  to our family.  I look forward to Christmas more and more each year because of them.  We didn’t may not have gone on a big vacation, but we are still in fairly good health and enjoyed the little time we got to travel.

What the future holds for us, we do not know, but all we can do is enjoy the days we have, our little moments that make our lives, the present—which is today.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!!!

Your pumpkin drawing is very nice. Have you tried watercolor pencils? Enjoy the grandbabies while they are little, they grow up twice as fast as your children did.

Hi Nancy! I love your artwork, it is very good. This pumpkin drawing is phenomenal. I actually am commenting here because of a poem of yours about the Alaotra Grebe that you left in a comment on this webpage: http://www.birdlife.org/community/2010/05/alaotra-grebe-extinction-do-you-care/

I couldn't find any other way to contact you other than a comment on your blog, which was linked on that webpage.

I thought it was a fantastic poem, and I just wanted to let you know that. I want to use it in a presentation that I'm giving at my school about the Alaotra Grebe and other species (with proper credit to you, of course). I hope that's okay with you. If you'd like me not to use the poem, I understand, but I'm assuming you won't mind. I think it will have an impact on the students I'll be reading it to, and help them to realize the importance of not letting beautiful species like this die out. It's terrible, how many species are dying and going extinct every year due to human influence.

By the way, I really do like your blog, and, although I see you haven't posted in a while, I'll still follow you because it seems really interesting and good! Especially the artwork!

Hello Francesca! Thank you so much for your comments on my blog as well as my poem! Of course you can use it! Thank you so much! I haven't been posting for awhile due to hectic Holiday time, as well as I have been a participant in the Sketchbook project which just ended. I have posted over at my flickr account--nancymaewi if you would like to see it.

Your comment made my day--I also recenly lost my mother and have been feeling lost myself. She just passed last Tuesday, so loss of any kind, relative, stranger, animals...is so very hard. I was so touched by the article that accompanied the Grebe's extinction announcement, I cried most of the day for the loss...the poem was something that just came out of it. I also did a journal page with a little painting of the Grebe.if you would like me to send it to you.

Thank you again so much and please let me know how your talk turns out. Thank you for subscribing to my blog...I will start making entries to it again. Thank you!

Nancy

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Although I have never lost anyone close to me because I am still only in high school, I understand the pain that accompanies this kind of loss. I am so so sorry.

I will definitely go look at your artwork on the Sketchbook Project, I was actually just looking at all of the artwork on your blog a minute ago and it really is fantastic! You are a phenomenal artist, and I really mean it. And I would love if you sent me a copy of your Grebe picture! I could use that in my presentation as well. My email is francesca.farris21@gmail.com.
I can't wait to see it and more of your artwork!
